2020.11.30 02:10 HOTKATBOOM Streak 29: Impfungen

2020.11.30 02:10 iaelmouna Please tell the truth

Yesterday, I happened across a post that was just complete and utter rubbish from the beginning to the end. It was posted by someone on this subreddit, and was just full of lies that were beyond belief. I know many of us have had serious problems in our lives, some more so than others, so I am not here to doubt nor call people out on their personal anecdotes, provided they are reasonably true. If you’re someone, for example, who has had severe depression, then I hope you get through it. If you lie about it, well I just hope you feel ashamed of yourself.
However, there have been attempts by people to flex on others in the classic ‘much smarter than thou’ method, where people talk about skills and knowledge that they have that’s just plain and utter bull. If people want to lie, go for it. Just try to be convincing, do us that favour at the very least. Please. I’m not going to sit here and believe that this subreddit contains the next Stephen Hawkins and Alan Turing en masse, and nor do you have to justify all the things in your life through intellect.
I get that exaggeration is fun, hell anecdotes are more enjoyable with them, as we can form a better relationship with your past self. I just ask that you don’t ruin them by telling blatant lies. Trust me, in the relatively short time I’ve been alive, I’ve learnt it’s just easier to be honest. People will call you out on your bluffs, and in the real world, it has dangerous consequences. I used to be a pathological liar, and it cost me a lot of friends and the trust of all my loved ones. It’s honestly not worth it, and besides, are internet points that worth it?
Yours sincerely,
A 19 year old going Old :)

2020.11.30 02:10 thecrazycanadiansis The 100 Baby Challenge question

Okay, I have a question. I *want* to do the 100 baby challenge, but I just can't find a way to make it fun. I have no idea if the creator of the challenge is on this Reddit, but I have a question to pose to anyone playing it. Is it controversial if I were to follow the rules of the challenge(raised by the matriarch only, age up rules, one dad per pregnancy, etc) but not have back to back to back kids? I mean, does she REALLY have to be barefoot and pregnant ALL the time? I wondered if that's just something YT personalities do so they don't have to have challenges that last several years, or if it's a hard and fast rule. I mean, there's always a chance you'd get multiples anyway, so that ups the challenge. It also ups it that you can't choose their traits(the kids or any subsequent matriarchs). Do you really need to stick to 4 matriarchs with 30+ kids each? I feel like even a more relaxed challenge matriarch could spit out like 20 kids per adult life. Thoughts?

2020.11.30 02:10 bigrubes Doppler effect disproving asymmetric speed of light?

Hi, first of all, thanks for your videos, I try to watch most of them and they tend to be both educational and entertaining.
That's not the reason that I'm writing this though. The reason that I'm writing this is because of the recent video you did with Derek Muller where you talk about the possibility of the speed of time being asymmetric.
I think (and I'm not a physicist, so there's a good possibility I'm completely wrong) that I've found something that points to this hypothesis being wrong. And that is the doppler effect. If you look into the night sky, I assume that the amount of red and blue shift is roughly similar in all directions.
Given that the amount of colour shift is relative to both the speed of light and the speed of the light-emitting object, this suggests to me that either the speed of light is symmetric in all directions, or that the objects in the universe are moving away from us in an asymmetric way that's of exactly the same scale as the asymmetry seen in the speed of light. This would, however, mean that the hypothesis of the speed of light being infinite in one direction, is impossible. There is, of course, a third option, in that there's some other effect that's allowing the universe to expand in a symmetric way while allowing for an asymmetric speed of light, that I haven't thought of.
While I know it was Derek's video, not Destin's, I'm posting it on here, as I think this might be a much better place for discussion.
Just in case you haven't seen the video, have a look here, it's well worth a watch!

2020.11.30 02:10 bravelulu Can Stress and Anxiety Cause Vitiligo?

Some people say stress and anxiety cause vitiligo. Vitiligo is a lasting skin problem in which growing patches of skin lose their color. It can affect people of any age, gender, or ethnic group. The change in the appearance of the skin caused by vitiligo can affect a person’s emotional or mental health. Patches hidden from view are not as bothersome as those that appear on exposed areas such as the face and hands. For some, it creates a feeling of embarrassment. Likewise, both emotional and physical stress can trigger vitiligo. It is a complex skin condition that involves both faulty genes and environmental factors. Melanocytes are more likely exposed to harmful chemicals induced amid emotional stress. People with vitiligo have reported that emotional stress causes more patches to develop. But, vitiligo affects only around 2% of the population worldwide. It is not likely that the stress level of this group of people is higher than that of the other 98% of people. Majority of people do not develop vitiligo, no matter how stressful their lives. Thus, stress only has a minor contribution to the development of vitiligo. The current view is that genetic susceptibility, environmental factors, and a trigger, such as stress, conspire to unleash an autoimmune attack on melanocytes. In some cases, vitiligo can cause psychological distress and can affect a person’s outlook and social interactions. If this happens, your dermatologist may suggest that you find a counselor or attend a support group.
