I don’t think it does but maybe mine is bugged? If I leave the light turned on the whole day, does it actually change throughout the day. Or does it change the next time it turns on?

2021.11.26 23:54 DawnPhantom I miss how we used to discuss the removal of corrupt central influence over some aspects of life with decentralization... So here is a thought exercise. We should come together and discuss the formation of a Decentralized global regulatory framework for Cryptocurrencies

Now before people go nuts and downvote or what ever because this is probably widely unpopular these days, I get it. Most people simply want to turn a profit now or they're looking for their next pump and dump.
It's a different world from the fundamentals people used to discuss when Bitcoin first revealed the potential of removing money from politics the way we always knew. Print infinite money, 1 dollar bills become worth .50 cents over time, milk and beef is now double the price, but maybe you won't notice because restaurants cut the servings in half... yet people recently praising corrupt politicians who still use the old playback of geo-political narrative, and there's now a massive global ecosystem with thousands of tokens with different purposes, some not scams, a large portion having no purpose.
But as the title suggests, I think it would be a good exercise that we come together to discuss and form a global regulatory Crypto framework that we can implement ourselves within our various Crypto communities.
Maybe even fund it through one of the Decentralized blockchain, maybe we can utilize something like Cardano's Project Catalyst governance system for example.
This framework would be a good idea to give us some experience as a broad community to put aside differences and come up with ideas for a better regulatory status for all of us. Now I get that some people will probably say we can't really have an impact on global regulation or that this is a useless effort but I would argue that having an ecosystem together that's been worth 3 trillion is more than enough evidence to prove otherwise.
Furthermore the current recommendations from the likes of the FATF and other legacy global institutions, these places who have decided to come up with the path for us aren't really sufficient and or don't exactly include the broader community in its discussions. It's blind rhetoric which is then usually only adjusted after massive community backlash, or rushed through if we're too quiet.
I think the fact the recent passed infrastructure bill with hidden crypto provisions for taxes and just blanket terming people as brokers even though they were not, was the ultimate show of disrespect. Including something that has nothing to do with infrastructure and burying it deep hoping no one finds it. Like lemming people just accept the fact that this is the norm, passed into law yet those whom it effects hardly represented.
If they wanted to do anything with Crypto a bill specifically for crypro should have been created. I get the fact that more bills are probably coming for Crypto, and they are likely to be as bad as anything they've decided for crypto thus far. So a great alternative is to come up with our own global regulatory Crypto framework that we can reccomend instead of that of the ones devised by legacy institutions in an attempt to form within the mold that looks more like the legacy financial system.

2021.11.26 23:54 RoninBassist Newbies first impressions on Haken

Hi again Everyone! You may remember me from an earlier post where I was looking for suggestions of songs or albums to start with so I could get into Haken. I would like to thank u/musicianengineer, u/collateralDimension, u/Zinkop, u/afanofBTBAM, and u/MattyBoi246 specifically for giving me in depth responses on what I should start with and what this band was all about. Now, after listening to every album once, (The Mountain and Affinity twice,) I'm going to give an honest review of each album based on my first listen. I'll start with my least favorite and end with my favorite, trying to keep it brief.

  1. Vector: Yes, vector is my least favorite, but I still think it is great. The only thing that bugs me about this album is the fact that it starts feeling repetitive, with not a whole lot of variation. It's more of just technical, heavy, chuggy riffs with very few breaks. The next album on this list also does this, but to a lesser degree. Now, don't get me wrong, I love this type of stuff, but when it's done as often as this, it starts to get repetitive and I lose interest. Favorite Songs: Veil, Nil by Mouth, Host.
  2. Virus: I consider this a substantial step up from Vector. It still keeps the technical chuggy riffs, but there are also softer songs like Canary Yellow and Only Stars which slow things down and provide an even flow throughout the album. And then there is Messiah Complex. Oh boy is this song or songs I should say good. Definitely a top five song, maybe even top three. And the "Cockroach King" musical references in the last three sections were so good I laughed out loud when I heard them. Favorite Songs: Messiah Complex, Prosthetic, Only Stars.
  3. Aquarius: We're starting to get into the albums where I have almost zero complaints and love almost every second of them. Aquarius is a musical journey. I didn't quite understand the story at first but I knew that there was one, and after reading up on this album, I can say that the story is great too. And I still cannot believe this was their debut album. Best debut album that I can think of no doubt. And how could I not mention Celestial Elixir, another top 5 song for me. The last five minutes of that song are just pure amazingness. Favorite Songs: Celestial Elixer, The point of no Return, Aquarium.
3: Affinity: Right off the bat, I love Morse codes in music, especially prog. It's just another layer of the puzzle that I get to figure out and I love that. Another thing I love in prog? Recurring themes and motifs. And that is exactly what this album has. That moment when The Architect reprised Initiate was one of the greatest things I've heard all year. Speaking of The Architect, no one told me that my boy Einar was coming in for some growls. I love his the sound of his growls but unfortunately he doesn't do it to often in Leprous. Nonetheless I was happy to hear him here! Favorite Songs: 1985, The Architect, Bound by Gravity.
  1. Visions: If I'm going to be honest, Visions and Affinity might be interchangeable on this list. But I ended up going with Visions for my number 2 spot. There's a lot to unpack in this album. But for one, I have absolutely no clue what the story of the album is. I know the main guy saw his own death as a kid, but the like it ends up he killed himself and travels in time or something? Idk I'm way off probably but if someone could explain in the comments that would be great. I've got 2 top 5 tracks on this album. Nocturnal Conspiracy and Visions. And oh boy Visions... do I even need to say more? It's currently my favorite Haken song. But this post is getting long so I won't go into much more detail than that. Favorite wings: Nocturnal Conspiracy, Deathless, Visions.
  2. The Mountain. The album that started it all for me. Is anyone really surprised that this is my number one? Every second of this album is just pure bliss. Not a single weak song on this album. It also has probably the best mix of proggieness, metal, and softness in one album. Favorite songs: Cockroach King, Falling back to Earth, Pareidolia.
So that's my review. I have to say I'm disappointed I didn't find this band earlier, but I sure am happy I found them now. I'm definitely going to be listening to them for a while. Thanks to everyone who recommended songs and albums to me! Let me know what you think of my list
